Wow, who expect that a modern business leaders can learn from the Rome Empire. This quote: "They were just incredibly good at co-opting people and ideas” also remind me other multicultural army - Austro-Hungarian Empire Army befor the I World War. The Rome Army united everybody: Rome citizens and also a other folks (e.g. Lacjum peoples). This was also Austro-Hungarian Empire strategy - amalgamate everybody around one common idea. Great example of huge, team leadership (how "infect" others team members).
Yes, I agree but, most italian people do not drink cappuccino afternoon. They usually drink essperso, but I understand that this concept is relate with tourists. But in the end you never feel culture of any coutry if your only aim in Rome will be to get in Starbuck becouse you want drink your most likly coffe.
I think that Starbucks could win in Italy. No in a caffe category but in service (free wi-fi, etc). But also normaly italian peoples want from barista somthings more (they treat them like: mom) so in this category Starbuck do not win. Even when they introduce this silly "What's my Sturbuck name". The are Corp, not small family caffe bar and they have to aceept this.
In my opinion is true that, for just be entrepreneur you do not need MBA level. Yes, of course in any high level of Corp or big well organised company it is helpful (especially when company hires 1k peoples). But when you started as little start-up, with few friends for it is needless.
In my opinion not always "climate change" but one of the main factor. For me main factor is opportunity to moder human to acclimate for this factores. Yes, climate changes are important but more value is respond for that e.g. better groups organisation, better equipment. In that time if you do not acclimate quick you died
May be they have good know-how how do this in good level of cost and price. Or may be this is completely unnecessary for them (the china government). Normally if you have pharmaceutical generics comapnies they have big portfolio of many generics drugs ("they do not keep eggs in one basket and diversification also). Create company which have only one product and sell only to China market in my opinion is pointless.
Well, I assume Gilead is allowing Chinese companies to manufacturer authorized generics at a price in line with average wages. So people in China already have access.
The other concern emerging economies like China have is they are already developing their own brand name/patented drugs. If they don't respect the US/EU patents, they can't really complain when the US/EU doesn't respect theirs. The US market makes up almost 2/3 of the western drug market, so it would be a huge lose for China.
Yes, that could be also good explanation. I assume also that China, India etc. have completely different genetic population than europe populationes. This is important at clinical trials or bioequivalence study because some drugs substances could work differently for peoples form Asia and Europe. Pharma companies run trailes e.g in China and sell drugs only for regional area (because it work) this drug will be ineffective in Europe or could to do more damage.
I remember when I was in Italy 2-3 yeras ago. I think that this concept do not work well in Italy. Italian people drink espresso near a counter. If you want sit down you pay something like fee (coretto) so ordynary Italian folks drink only espresso at couter. The concept of a coffeehouse (where people could sit) was establish more in Vienna. This is smothing completely strange for italian people. I think that this Starbucks concept do not make big impact in Italy (McDonalds case)
