idk doesn't this mean I can't get any help from IDEs? code-completion? find-all-references?

You'd probably be the only person using an IDE for development in Picolisp.

The main author does (or at least did) a lot of development on a tablet, with his own software keyboard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.software_la... , which I've enjoyed for years on my handhelds, in part due to the tmux-arpeggio), and his own editor (https://picolisp.com/wiki/?vip ). I think most of us do something similar, using vim or vip, maybe on larger computers, but generally a pretty minimal setup.

The REPL has string based completion, besides completing symbols it will also complete file paths. Development is heavily REPL based, you'd spend a lot more time inspecting the runtime than searching for string occurrences in files.

From the REPL you'd also read the language reference, most likely in w3m, the preferred text web browser in this community. (doc 'macro) will open the reference on this entry if you started the REPL with 'pil +', where the + is a flag denoting debug mode. You can expect the web GUI framework to work rather well in w3m.

this...

nearly 95% of deeplearning github repos are "tested using cuda gpu - others, not so sure"

the only way to out-run nvidia is to have 3~10x better bang-for-buck.

Or AMD can just provide a "DIY unlimited gpu RAM upgrade" kit -- a lot of people are buying macstudio 128gb ram because of its "bigger ram-for-buck" than nvidia gpus

I heard apple m4 ultra using 256gb HBM for studio and pro, but I don’t buy it. The 256GB maybe. But a HBM memory control that would go unused on laptops doesn’t pass the smell test.

this

people will definitely pay a big premium to get:

a surfacebook with M4 chip with macOS

While not exactly the same, it will be close enough for Apple not to do it - it's called MacBook Air and it will be out with M4 soon enough (I guess).

Back in they day they had 11" MacBook line and I loved it, wish they'd bring it back.

I guess with the dell xps 13 having tandem oled now, this might arrive eventually. However, right now the screens are big differentiators between the ipad pro and macbook air.

guess it's safer to eat :)

Only in a tea.

+ PRC sending back escapees back to NK

PRC should give the escapees the right to travel, instead of deporting.

I expect a lot of wumaos to resort to whataboutisms completely unrelated to the right-to-travel / right-to-asylum / right-to-immigration / etc

PRC restricts the right to travel of its own citizens; seems utterly unsurprising they'd give North Koreans even less.

China has a vested interest in NK remaining a viable country; again, seems unsurprising that they'd do this.

"Should" is aspirational. I agree with you in what China should be doing, but of course they won't.

> Are they really insterested in telling us the truth or are they just saying/doing whatever is needed to protect their interests?

regardless of that, shouldn't you also truly believe on "let North Koreans travel freely"?

Sorry, I'm not following. Could you rephrase your question? Are you asking me if I believe North Koreans should have the right to travel freely? If so, yes, I do believe that.

this whole "woke" mentality is going out of hand too fast...

I mean, someone bullying some veterans/old men because they're "woke and feminist" isn't going to earn any sympathy from me.

nowadays... "woke" just means "I'm better than you (so I can/will do things that are otherwise unacceptable to you)"

...I think we chose the wrong word. Rather than "woke", it should have been "NO BULLYING" -- which includes all things the real "woke" people tried to do, and forbids all things the wrong "woke" people are trying to do

Generally, these days "woke" is a word that regressive bullying assholes use to insult people.

It definitely strikes me as thought-terminating cliche. If people were calling themselves woke maybe, but I've only seen it as pejorative for several years.

I don't think it's fair to entirely dismiss either, there really is a lot of incredibly toxic behaviour in communities labelled "woke" (and agreeing with further up the chain, I can't help but feel being a bit less "inclusive" and demanding some commitment to the product might help, gatekeeping be damned). But we should strive to accurately describe what those behaviours are.

Except if you actually look as things it's usually the "woke" elements that best fit the definition of bullying.

how is it related to turing-complete?

I mean, if python has some unnecessary performance-killing while loops hidden inside, it can be 35000x slower for everything regardless of 'turing-complete'

I'm no longer student at a university (working) -- can I apply? are there any age restrictions?

yes, the program is now open to anyone. i don't think there are age restrictions.

the primary condition is that you are new to FOSS and are not an active contributor already

You should be over 18.There is no maximum age restriction though.

> the primary condition is that you are new to FOSS and are not an active contributo

Why? People who are interested and caring enough to start without getting paid, and who have shown they are more likely to succeed, are the ones who are excluded? That's toxic to FOSS culture.

the point of the program is to attract new contributors, not to reward old ones. how is that toxic?

I believe you must be enrolled as a student in some accredited institution.

not anymore

you should do it with Typescript
