That's an old finding. professor Jordan Peterson was talking about it for years. I can't remember the name of the researcher he was referring to, but he found that in rats.
What is more real - a concrete object, or the abstraction describing it. You could argue that number 5 is more real than for example 5 apples since you see it everywhere.
You can buy one, just don't look for a webcam. What you need is good camera and lenses. I'm using Sony A6400 with decent lenses and video quality is amazing, but this setup probably costs much more then most people would be willing to spend on a webcam.
