From the synopsis page, it almost sounds like the River Tethys in the Hyperion Cantos: farcaster portals that join segments in disparate worlds into a single, unbroken, flowing river.
Yep, it's good. It starts off with a really cool description of the process by which a synthetic mind is created from scratch and thrown into a community of other minds (both synthetic and post-human uploaded consciousnesses). The rest of it was good too, but that was a memorable moment for me.
Looks great, and as the other commenter mentioned, solves a problem I've had on previous teams. I actually like the layout and the graphics on your landing page. If you're comfortable sharing, I would be interested to know how you procured or produced the art.
Full stack developer with experience leading development and operations teams. Open to either more Python-based work or a stack change altogether! Prefer to work remotely if not in Madison, but will consider relocating for the right position.
I'm looking for a challenge with a smaller, faster, leaner company. I currently work for a large Fortune 500 and would like a change of pace. GIS, Education, ISP (Internet Service Provider) tech are all comfortable areas of interest for me, but I am definitely open to trying out other industries/verticals.
Currently reside in Madison, WI but may move if it doesn't warm up soon.
I tried to send you a note but it didn't go through. I'd love to chat, I work for a faster, leaner, smaller, KILLER company. send a note! jsinger@counsyl.com
I plan to, if there is interest. It's easy in that the solution is straightforward and there are few difficult technical problems to solve. It will, however, require a substantial time commitment to build, which is why I'd like to gauge the market first.
If that's true, I don't think you need to worry about people "stealing" your idea. Most people don't have the drive to stop what they're doing follow through with someone else's idea just because it sounds nice.
My advice is to feel free to talk about it and gauge interest. If you're that worried, just choose who you share with wisely (don't share it with people currently looking for an idea to work on), but I really doubt it will be an issue.
I asked a similar question a few months ago and got mostly the same answers as you. Most people here seem content dealing with the lack of cool Gmail interface stuff and opt to host their own. Someone needs to build a slick gmaily interface that can be plopped on a web server to use your self-hosted email. Bonus points for adding an XMPP chat client so you can use GTalk and see when your contacts are online. If nothing else, web hosting providers would buy this from you to offer their customers.
