I am waiting for the Rust-based Firefox :}

Firefox 45, the current release, has a tiny bit on Linux and OS X. In a few releases, it will be on Windows as well.

I don't know what percentage you need to have it be "based", but we're getting there...

they have an FAQ item for that. But I would submit that the answer seems to be skirting around the issue of an actual (accidental or not) "finger" press.... Especially like when the cashier takes takes your coin out of the check presenter? Grab it by the edges, you say? Suure....

Q. Can someone accidentally change which card is selected on my Coin?

A. We’ve designed the button to toggle cards in a way that makes it difficult to trigger a "press" unintentionally. Dropping a Coin, holding a Coin, sitting on a Coin, or putting the Coin in a check presenter at a restaurant will not inadvertently toggle the card that is selected.

Well... I still look upon it with interest (although of course with not as much interest if it were here!).

about your question: admittedly, part of it might be rent-seeking (which would be systemic; I make no attempts at pretending to know everything about the banking system but I wouldnt be surprised). I recall Ben goes into the "why" a bit more in detail somewhere in the early part of his interview with TWiST: http://thisweekinstartups.com/thisweekin-startups/dwolla-ben...

> A plugin from five years ago that hasn't been maintained in that time is probably going to hurt you a lot.

Unless it just does some simple, or basic thing. In which case, you're still hurt. But in a different way....

Wow. An actual critique of Rails??? +1!!!

I'd be curious - what do u use, and why? I've been meaning to look into getting my own blog restarted, but just haven't gotten down to the question of which static site generator to use.

I don't know about Firefox doing that on purpose, but the addon that I've written (Link Exposé) has seen several releases of firefox (19.* to 24.*) without having to do an (api) "update". It's written using the new jetpack SDK (now "Add-on SDK") - and there is a commitment to keeping that api stable.

on passion vs grinding: don't you think that this guy is presenting a false dichotomy here? Couldn't I (and I would!) lend to the guy who loves his job... AND is prepared to work hard at it?

a somewhat late response to all the application-tire/dread, perhaps?

Facebook innovates quickly, polishes late. Look at how they handled the Newsfeed. It's the same thing here. Though judging from the current redesign, it would seem they're running out of ideas.
