ASLR (for example) is a pretty standard technique, I thought all commercial OSes enabled this generally. What's the purpose of picking at this portion?
Exactly. That and in game currencies. You like competing in games, or for game-bucks? Well you need some level of obfuscation and hardening to make that viable.
How is this dropping the ball? I think they dropped the ball a long time ago by waiting until M5 to do integrated tensor cores instead of the separate ANE only which was present before.
For multi-gpu you can network multiple Macs at high speed now. Their biggest disadvantage to Nvidia right now is that no one wants to do kernel authoring in Metal. AMD learned that the hard way when they gave up on OpenCL and built HIP.
Values are an integral part of tech design. I think that a lot of people don't use Chrome because of Google's tracking and profiling ecosystem, even though they feel it is a good browser. I prefer to use an open-source product, even if it may not be the best, just because I support open source as an idea. That is not weak.
people don’t use chrome because ads are annoying and because google ads on the front page led them into scam sites. Or because chrome is inefficient. That’s the only reason anyone seems to use brave or safari anyways.

#1 reason I use the Sony XM4/XM6. Sometimes I wonder if they intentionally do this to appeal to a younger crowd cause as an older person with neck issues it’s just not a very good product.
The audio quality of the Sonys is just as good but the comfort is a much better. I think I like the mic on the AirPods Max better but the mic on the MacBook I use in meetings works as well for meetings.
> Could they not have upstreamed those features in the first place?
Often when you are working on a downstream code base either you are inheriting the laziness of non-upstreaming of others or you are dealing with an upstream code base that’s really opinionated and doesn’t want many of your teams patches. It can vary, and I definitely empathize.
