You don't necessarily need to build the monolith - design it first, for sure, but then pick apart the design and see where the individual components lie.
Right. And I'm saying most folks either don't know how to do that or can't because of constraints like time and fluidity.
Design one starts and ends up with are more often than not miles apart.
