Linux in general has been doing just fine. The one really notable change I've seen lately is a transition towards a hybrid click/touch interface, with ubiquitous "big" targets for tapping and swiping, as part of the switch to GTK+3. And that seems necessary if we're to work towards having a Linux desktop on smaller, touch-capable devices, so I have no real issue with it. The widget style has changed a bit, but it still looks quite traditional, avoiding the excesses of both "skeuomorphic" and "flat" design.


And big targets are easier to click on with a mouse, too. And the space problem resulting from bigger targets also makes you think harder about what targets to present, and which ones to move to subscreens.
