After 18 years struggling with the Linux desktop, I switched to Windows for my GUI needs. Everything just works, if somewhat slowly. My "working environment" is a Linux VM. If I need to run a graphical app from the VM, there are plenty of rootless X servers for Windows, plus Windows 10 has workspaces.

I get the best of both worlds: real vendor support for hardware, and the best software for getting work done (windows business software, Linux coding software). Honestly, this feels like the future to me, and I hope M$ is working towards this being a normalized hybrid platform.

The new Windows Subsystem for Linux looks legit. Is that what you're using, or are you spinning up your own VM?

Some things don't work well with WSL right now (stares at Docker intensely) so it's a Vagrant VM w/Ubuntu.

Doesn't Docker use WSL2 now officially?

I tried it on the weekend, and it indeed work...

I wouldn't use "now" for preview builds, but more or less yes.
