I believe that to be incorrect. You are, in fact, allowed to copy the facts of a recipe. Copyright does not apply to recipes. The same goes for, for instance, clothing designs. (This is why expensive brands make designs with their logo plastered all over it; the logotype is covered by trademark law, even though copyright does not apply.)
