The author of the article didn't mind the principal behind snaps, if you read his diatribe it was more about the performance of it and feeling snookered that Ubuntu was pushing snap so hard, even tricking people into using a deb that runs a script that then installs the snap version. It shouldn't take chromium 5-10 seconds to startup with firefox launches in under a second
