I think it was about 1997 when I RAN Oberon on a home computer. I thought the language was good, the OS and mostly text oriented UI was interesting.

It would be good if there was a VirtualBox distribution. I looked but I saw nothing that I could use.

Just download the Oberon IDE (there are precompiled versions for Windows, Mac and Linux) and run the OberonSystem project included with the IDE.
