Wow. Singularity Hub (http://singularityhub.com) moved to a similar design. The result is that I now find it next to impossible to easily figure out what is new, whereas their previous linear design made that trivial, and far more usable.

This is case where a site's RSS or Atom feed ends up being more practical that the home page.
