If a med was repurposed and proven to have widespread positive effects, it would literally be handed out like candy. Prolonging the pandemic benefits no one from either party. They both want their lost tax revenue back at the minimum. Hospitals, doctors, medical insurance companies want to get back to their core businesses: elective outpatient procedures and processing the minimum amount of claims.
