Has there been any studies done on the number of accidents prevented by Autopilot?


Well, you can do some rough math by using Tesla's own numbers.

With autopilot: 1 crash in 4.31 million miles driven

Without autopilot: 1 crash in 1.59 million miles driven


Can those numbers be directly compared? For instance, I’d assume the proportion of highway miles driven is much higher for autopilot miles. And highway driving is much safer than city driving.
