Other rankings of programming languages are:
1. RedMonk. Puts C++ at 7th.
2. StackOverflow Developer Survey (2022) puts it at 9th.
3. GitHub Octoverse puts C++ at 6th.
4. Reddit's programming language subreddits has it at 4th. (Rust is close behind)
So equally weighted those would put C++ at 6.5 (average), certainly nowhere near the 3rd that Tiobe puts it. I consider their results to be outliers and it's about time people started ignoring them. I think their methodology is flawed. They have C at #2 while most others put it somewhere around #10.
Hmmmm, between Jan 2022 and Jan 2023, Rust has made the largest index jump within the Top 20, from 26 to 18 (8 notches), with all other languages making only single- or double-notch movements. Wonder if it means anything, considering the Change of only +0.11% with 0.61% Ratings.
