According to wikipedia they use chips from Broadcom. I'm not sure how a small company being able to make SBCs using chips from a massive multinational is indicative of how easy it is for cloud vendors to "make their own chips".

Um, no, the Pico doesn't run Linux.

If you want a Linux RPi, the chips are still Broadcom.


The moment RPis were released it was obvious to me that eventually cloud providers/data centers would be using ARM chips due to Intel’s margins. At the scale of millions of chips it makes sense to save money on each chip.
