Seems they developed a full (implantable) membrane as opposed to doing sub-retinal injections and waiting for things to grow.
Not obvious to me how the membrane actually gets implanted. If the founders are here I would be curious to find out more?
Edit: not to mention that with it not being a tech startup, the details will be in the patents when they're made public.
Not just startups and definitely not just CS folks.
I know plenty of non-tech people on HN. MDs, Surgeons, Biotech, Pharma, Medical Device people, Agrotech, Physicists, etc.
What still surprises me is the quality of moderation despite the increase in users.
Hopefully in a few years time, there will be a way to improve their vision which will give them back some of their lives again…
