Had the exact same thing, first virtualbox, then bhyve. VBOX made FreeBSD a bit "unstable" kernel crashes about every 3 months after heavy VBOX use. With bhyve 0 problems, and when I need VBOX, Hyper-V or VMware, I have a Windows-bhyve-vm installed with it.
Next for me is the Podman/Docker thing (or netgraph(4)?....hmmm), though I have no real use for it (because of jails and or vm's), but hey, why not ;)
