I was going to call this a duplicate post but the other one is already flagged with 13 or more upvotes in a matter of minutes.

I've turned off the flags on that one and merged the comments there.

Why turn off flags selectively? That seems like it biases the website.

The issue is when flagging is used to bias the website.

It's very noticeable how certain political topics get flagged which is often fine as HackerNews is not intended to be for political discourse, but there's also tech topics that get flagged due to the politics of the flaggers (e.g. tech news that puts Musk in a bad light).

This particular topic would appear to be political (i.e. it's about Israel), but in reality it's less politics and more about humanity.

Yes, it had gotten flagged. I was reading this article and it got flagged and I genuinely couldn't let it go so I reuploaded. (I have written a comment about it)

It's sad to see such posts being flagged, like this isn't about wars but its about humanity. I just I don't know.

I don't know why that might get flagged, I just don't. Religion/Nation/Class, I think that this goes beyond all of that.

Almost all posts regarding Israel are immediately flagged. There are a few that make it through with the help of the moderators.

Austin, this has gotten flaged too :)

I have reposted it under the archive link that I mentioned.

It's sad to see this post getting flagged twice, but oh well.

Genuine question that I have asked there as well and I ask here as well, if I am able to defend why I am reuploading it with detail (and feel free to ask me anything), can people who flag this post tell us their reasoning or their names. Would they even be comfortable having their names be within the list that they have flagged such posts, I am not sure if they would be.

Why is it flagged?

Read the guidelines and then come back and enumerate which criteria this post meets and which it violates. I don't know why you are so determined to have this story posted here or why any of the other goings on in the wider world haven't similarly "traumatized" you and also need to be posted. Regardless, this forum is not appropriate for working out your psychological issues. Unless, perhaps, they're related to the high price of RAM.

Now that the flags have been overridden do you feel better, vindicated, heard?

I am not sure about this but perhaps that might be the case but I think what I wish to convey is that this post has traumatized me on a more human level, news comes and goes but just thinking about it for a moment really just traumatized me.

I can't even begin to comprehend what the kid's family might've felt emotionally seeing the kid and on what level.

There was also the part about how her mother had been pregnant with a child and then the child essentially got mislaboured directly because of war.

On a more human level, I still don't know why people might flag these posts. Jewish faith had gone through immense torment and pain whether through the holocaust or numerous other struggles that they faced for thousands of years, It should mean that they should know about these struggles and realize the human aspects of it and not treat the other as some enemy or whatever and treat them as humans like they are.

I really wish to convey that if not anything, Obviously if someone who has flagged has certain beliefs and I feel like its hard to change beliefs but one of the most core aspects of any religion is the golden rule of treat others like how you wish to be treated and I am not religious but I still stand by it and I would like to raise (admittedly a very tiny voice on a forum) because thats how I might want other people to do the same if something might happen within my community. I hope I can convey this hopefully to anyone who might've flagged the previous post.
