Couldn't it be because her skills are obviously being underutilized? Society could benefit from her a lot more, and she could get more resources at the same time, but for what ever reason that's not happening. And that is rationally upsetting.


It was upsetting to me because I don't think we should value and respect people who are MIT grads more than anyone else. Someone who is working retail because that's all they can do is just as valuable as someone who does it while working on something better. I was upset because I realized how classist I was being.
